Topic:  She'll be talking about the experience of urban farming over the course of one season, challenges and miracles both, as compared to the experience of farming on several acres rurally. I'll share what flowers did well, what didn't work as well, and I'll talk about working with a floral designer and how demand shapes what I choose to grow.

Topic: He will be discussing the basic principles of Bonsai as well as discussing is recent experiences studying with Bonsai master Tohro Suzuki in Japan and interning at the National Arboretum. 

Garden club members are welcome to bring any Bonsai plants they may have at home for advice.

Topic: Traut Landscape Studio strives to create fresh, timeless landscapes with a sense of creativity. Founder and landscape architect, Sarah Trautvetter, works with her clients to translate their visions into outdoor rooms well-suited to the context and needs of its users. Seamlessly blending interior with exterior space, the result is a cohesive living environment  particularly relevant in urban conditions. Exploring the interplay between natural and built in a method reminiscent of paint on paper, Traut Landscape Studio’s work exhibits a sensitivity to texture and detail creating places of lasting quality and delight.
Sarah will discuss challenges typical to urban settings and will use some of her projects to illustrate possible solutions.
