Bolton Hill Garden Club Green Space Grants Program
The purpose of the BHGC Green Space Grants Program is to encourage
resident greening activities in public spaces, help fund such
activities through monetary grants, and foster interest in beautifying
our public spaces through gardening in Bolton Hill. The program
awards funds for projects that include the maintenance of flower beds,
as well as the planting of flowers, shrubbery, and trees.
Each year, the club conducts four significant fund-raising activities
(pansy sale, holiday greens sale, spring plant sale, and summer garden
walk) and then funnels the proceeds of these events back into the
neighborhood in the form of green space grants. For fiscal year 2012,
the BHGC is pleased to announce the funding of 10 requests for a total
of over $5,300 worth of greening activities in and around Bolton Hill.
We especially want to thank our committee chairs Bobbi Hahn, Christian
Roth, Brian Causey and Sarah Ramirez Cross for making our fund raisers
successful. We would also like to thank the MRIA for the contribution
to this year's pool of funds, making even more funds available to the
neighborhood for greening activities.
The Bolton Hill Garden Club Membership
The Bolton Hill Garden Club is a great venue for meeting and socializing with your Bolton Hill neighbors. Meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of the month from September through June.
In addition to a calendar of guest speakers, the club holds picnics, pot luck suppers, cocktail parties, and a day trip to the Eastern Shore. It hosts a Fall pansies sale, a Winter wreath sale, a Spring plant sale, and a Summer Garden Walk. The BH Garden Club has adopted many parks and small public spaces as its Bolton Hill parks maintenance projects.
